Billions of people around the world listen to different kinds of music. The interests and tastes of music vary from people to people and are mostly influenced by different factors including race, culture, religion, ethnicity, style, and personal preferences, etc. There are a countless number of music genres, and the audience of every genre is in millions. Some of the most popular genres include Rock, R&B, hip-hop, Rap, Soul, Folk, Classic, Alternative Rock, Indie, Indie Rock, Pop, EDM, Jazz, Country, Blues, and Metal, etc.

One significant aspect of music is that it causes a greater effect on the minds and hearts of people. Not just to the limit of proving to be a source of joy and recreation but as a source of a deeper sense of enlightenment, satisfaction, empowerment, and happiness. It has the sheer ability to uplift an individual’s spirit, and it may be the biggest aspect of music that is used by artists and producers. They want their records to cast a strong effect on their audience.

Music as activism – Throughout different centuries, music has been used as a source of leading activism and social movements. Since music is treated as a way to uplift spirits and empower people, it has been proven to be a fundamental tool for activism. Many mass movements and social changes that have occurred in the history of mankind have been propelled by music of some sort.

Artists have also worked on this strong aspect of music, eyeing for possibilities of influencing their audience. A good example remains Yoshihisa Watanabe, who goes by the stage name Omen44. He is a Japanese rap artist who continues to grow immensely popular in the Japanese and United States markets. Omen44 also believes that there is a large gap between the market of the USA and Japanese rap music scene, a gap he personally wishes to eliminate using his own work.

It can treat mental health problems – Scientific research and studies have concluded that music has the power of treating different kinds of mental health complexities and disorders. In fact, music is being used as a form of therapy to treat the victims of mental issues. Various diseases and disorders including bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, stress, schizophrenia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, etc. can be built using music.

Expressionism – Music is a form of art which is enlisted as a power to express a musician’s deepest thoughts and ideas. Most artists in the world have eyed this prospect as a way to express themselves, a practice which continues to grow around the world.
